The published salary data is not based on a questionnaire survey, but rather on Bluebird’s more than 25 years of recruitment experience. We present the salaries that candidates and employers agree upon during actual hiring processes.
The salary data in the Bluebird Salary Guide comes from thousands of real candidate communications, salary negotiations, and hiring processes. We processed the data using expert validation and AI-supported analysis to paint the most accurate picture possible of the Hungarian IT job market.

IT Salaries 2026 – Salary Guide and Market Analysis
We have compiled this year’s Bluebird IT Salary Guide. In our analysis, we wanted to show not only what the average software developer’s salary is, but also what specific technological knowledge and experience are worth on the market within the major IT roles. Our survey provides a snapshot of the gross earning potential for IT professionals in Hungary.
Based on this year’s data, the rapid wage growth seen in previous years has subsided. Salary ranges have stabilized for most positions, while certain in-demand roles—particularly SAP, architects, and certain infrastructure areas—continue to show growth. In addition, demand for junior professionals also appears to be picking up.

How often do we conduct our salary survey?
The Bluebird IT Salary Guide is compiled once a year.
How did we compile the data?
The latest 2026 edition of the Bluebird Salary Guide is based on our own market data, as well as an AI-supported data processing and validation methodology. The analysis was based on thousands of records containing gross salary expectations.
During processing, we considered only those data points that were meaningful, comparable, and methodologically usable in terms of position, seniority, and salary expectations. The goal of AI-supported processing was not to replace human expert judgment, but to enable a faster, more consistent, and deeper interpretation of the data.
Which companies’ data do we include?
We work with data from companies that are our business partners. Our client base includes a mix of the largest multinational corporations, large enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We believe we process data from a sufficiently broad client base, as we typically work with nearly 100 companies simultaneously in some capacity.
How much does an IT specialist earn?
In 2026, an IT specialist could earn a gross salary ranging from 600 000 HUF to 2 650 000 HUF depending on the job.
How do we determine which IT professionals’ data to consider?
We consider the data of the IT professionals we come into contact with. Since we have a large number of IT positions, a great many IT professionals pass through Bluebird. Some have low salary expectations (though there are very few of them), some have average expectations, and some have strikingly high expectations.
When compiling the salary ranges, we made sure that extreme values wouldn’t skew the numbers, so we didn’t take them into account.
What is the geographic scope of the data?
Budapest. We do not include salary data from other regional areas, as nearly all of our domestic clients are based in Budapest. (We do not include data from international projects or candidates we have placed abroad.)

No. We believe that, over time, there will be absolutely no difference between women’s and men’s salaries in the IT sector, just as there is no difference in pay at Bluebird based on whether someone is a man or a woman.

Like back-end developers, full-stack developers work on the server-side of web programming, but they are also fluent in the front-end languages that determine how content appears on the user side of a website.
