As a Senior Java Developer, the employee is a highly experienced, hands-on engineer who delivers complex backend solutions with a high degree of autonomy and quality. The role emphasizes deep technical execution, ownership through implementation, and a strong understanding of system behavior.
A senior developer is expected to spend the majority of their time designing, implementing, and maintaining production-grade code, while contributing to overall system quality, scalability, and maintainability through practical, code-driven decisions.
Technical Expertise
- Writes high-quality, production-grade Java (17/21) and Spring Boot code for complex backend systems.
- Designs and implements non-trivial features and services, including data modeling, APIs, integrations, and error handling.
- Applies advanced design patterns and architectural principles in code, improving system robustness and clarity.
- Actively participates in refactoring initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability.
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex production issues, including performance and stability problems.
System & Cloud Ownership
- Develops, deploys, and operates services on AWS, following existing platform standards and tooling.
- Takes ownership of the runtime behavior of services, including monitoring, logging, and incident resolution.
- Optimizes applications for performance and reliability within the given architecture.
- Ensures services meet security, compliance, and operational requirements.
Autonomy & Responsibility
- Works independently on complex tasks and features with minimal guidance, owning solutions from implementation through production.
- Proactively identifies risks, edge cases, and improvement opportunities within assigned system areas.
- Balances feature delivery with necessary technical improvements to keep systems stable and sustainable.
- Provides realistic estimates and communicates clearly about progress, risks, and trade-offs.
