As a Junior Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the design, deployment, and management of scalable and secure infrastructure on GCP. You’ll work alongside senior engineers, gradually taking on more responsibility as you gain experience. Your role will include learning to automate cloud infrastructure, monitor performance, and contribute to reliability and optimization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and deploying secure, scalable infrastructure on GCP
- Support the use of Terraform or similar tools for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Help manage virtual networks, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers
- Contribute to automating tasks and CI/CD pipelines with guidance (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Learn and apply basic security practices and compliance requirements
- Support monitoring, logging, and alerting setup using GCP-native tools
- Participate in resource usage reviews and incident troubleshooting
- Document configurations, changes, and standard procedures
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Some hands-on experience or strong academic background with GCP or other cloud platforms
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) personal projects or training a plus
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage
- Beginner-level scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
- Willingness to learn about networking concepts and cloud security
- Analytical mindset and interest in infrastructure problem-solving
- Good communication skills and eagerness to work in a collaborative team
