The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining efficient, scalable, and secure data pipelines and infrastructure to support advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives across the organization. He/she collaborates closely with Data Analysts, IT teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate data needs into robust technical solutions and user-friendly data products. Builds and optimizes data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant regulations. Actively contributes to data architecture, documentation, and continuous improvement, while staying current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering.
Main responsibilities
- Ensure the stability and operational continuity of existing data integrations and pipelines by providing daily support, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts and cross-functional teams to translate data needs into user-friendly data products, with the opportunity to design and implement advanced data solutions from the ground up.
- Participate in every aspect of design, development and implementation.
- Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes.
- Design and develop interfaces between the source and BI systems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, contribute to manuals and documentation for the users.
- Cross-functional collaboration across several departments.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and business intelligence.
Rrquirements
- A bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, math, statistics, economics or a related subject.
- Good communication in English (both verbal and written).
- 3-5 years minimum experience working in data engineer, BI developer or similar position, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Strong SQL skills (SELECT with all join types, subqueries, aggregations UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE and stored procedures). MS SQL Server background is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Data Lakehouse concept.
- Strong technical background in data modelling, database design and optimization of queries.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or similar tools.
- A strong interest in emerging technologies, combined with openness to continuous learning, professional growth, and actively sharing knowledge with others.
- Experience with participation in Analytics projects preferably in projects with cross-country and wide functional scope.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in the FMCG industry.
- Experience with programming languages like Python, R or C# is a strong plus.
- Experience with OLAP cubes.
- Good knowledge of software development methodologies, proficiency in source code and version control systems, and practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, data workflows, and orchestration tools in enterprise environments (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Advanced MS Excel experience (VBA, Power Query).
- QlikView/QlikSense is a plus.
