We are seeking experienced Cloud Data Governance Architect with deep expertise in Azure and Databricks to lead our team´s data governance strategy. This role will focus on establishing governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure data quality, security, and compliance during our transition from on-premises data platforms to the cloud.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance within regulated industries, preferably financial services, and proven experience in planning and delivering governance programs at scale in a hybrid (on-premise to cloud) environment.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Leadership
- Design, align and implement the RCT data governance strategy with group cloud data governance strategy, aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the key liaison between business, technology, risk, and compliance stakeholders.
- Drive adoption of governance frameworks, policies, and standards across data engineering, analytics, and business teams.
- Governance Framework & Policy Development Establish and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
- Develop policies for data classification, lineage, cataloging, retention, and access control in cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks, Collibra and related services).
- Ensure governance standards align with financial sector regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239, SOX).
- Cloud Transition & Implementation Lead governance planning during the migration from on-premise to Azure/Databricks environments.
- Define processes for data ingestion, transformation, and storage with built-in governance.
- Collaborate with cloud architects and engineers to embed governance-by-design in platform buildout.
- Risk & Compliance Management
- Monitor compliance with internal data policies and external regulations.
- Partner with Information Security teams to ensure data security, privacy, and access management.
- Develop controls to mitigate risks associated with cloud adoption.
- Enablement & Culture
- Provide training, guidance, and evangelization of governance practices across the Tribe.
- Promote a culture of data quality, integrity, and trust.
Qualifications
- Required: University degree in relavant field.
- 6+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or information governance roles.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure data services (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Purview, Key Vault, etc.) and Databricks.
- Proven track record in governance planning and execution during on-premise to cloud migrations.
- Experience working with data cataloging, lineage, metadata management, and access governance.
- Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance requirements in financial services.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Hungarian and/or English language proficieny.
